Tim and Tina Chat 9

             Tim and Tina Chat 9
    Self-Confidence
(Tim and Tina are at Klazz Restaurant, Tedder Hall, University of Ibadan. They are both having a breakfast of beans and bread.)

TINA:Hi, Timo!

TIM:See ehn. I experienced the worst disgrace of my life today in class.(Shouts) The lecturer finished me!

TINA:(Opens her mouth wide)How? Disgrace?

TIM:We were divided into groups in the previous class and I was to represent my group. Can you imagine?! I went blank and I kept stammering and my speech was full of grammatical errors! God! I was terrible, Tina...

TINA:(Laughs)Why? What's wrong with you? When it's time to 'toast' girls, you are always Mr. Confidence. How come you messed up in class?

TIM:Tina, I just don't understand. For a while, my confidence when it comes to positive things like schoolwork or legit business ventures has been absent. Tina, if you'd seen how the lecturer finished me... He said he doubts if I have anything in my skull.

TINA:Yee! Pele. I think you have a case of inferiority complex. I don't know anybody you could talk to. Do you?

TIM:There's no one.(Slouches) And right now, I just feel I am irrelevant like the lecturer said because I can't even express myself right. Tina what should I do I am just always too scared to think I can do something successfully.

TINA:I'd have said you should talk to your parents but I know they are too busy. And, there's no big uncle or counsellor you can speak with. I don't know what you will do.(Folds her arms)

AUNTY GOODSENSE: It takes a lot of confidence to live! Life itself is a collection of hazards, dangers and risks. Often, we fail, we fall. It is necessary to realize that you've got to invest in building your confidence. No human should have the right to intimidate you!
The first step in increasing self-confidence is realizing your worth in God through Jesus. A person's real value cannot be measured in their wealth, looks, religion or brains.
Next, you've got to discover why you are! Every one has a uniqueness to add to the world. Find out what you do best. Learn how to use your gift(s) better. Use your gift(s)!
Also, watch what you feed your eyes and ears with. Choose your friends, music, movies and books wisely. Guard your heart and mind with all diligence.
Very importantly, add value to people with You- your time, your money, your resources.
With time, your self-confidence would grow exponentially!
